Gigs, Vids, Tunes & more

8th May 2007: BEING BOILED @ NOTTING HILL ARTS CLUB
The beating heart of London's Electro scene, this night is run by electrosuperstars Client who have been kind enough to invite us to play next month. Also on the bill are 16ssss and Fixmer/McCarthy – the latter being the lead singer of Nitzer Ebb (no less!)  We're on at the nice civilised time of 9pm, and I believe entry is free before 8pm (£6 after, £4 with attached flyer).

18th May 2007: BUTTONED DOWN DISCO @ 93 FEET EAST
A mere one week later we are partying with the BDD crew at 93 Feet East. A fab 10:30pm slot in London's trendy Brick Lane…we have clearly arrived! It's also on a Friday, so no excuses about having to get up for work the next day....More details to follow nearer the time.

All details of these are on our newly redesigned Myspace:
http://myspace.com/cassettecassette

BraceBraceBrace
are our fabulous graphic artists who have created some incredible visuals to accompany our live sets; you can watch a couple for free and online on our myspace site or directly on the youtube place:
http://youtube.com/cassettemusic

You will enjoy!

Tunes
We have also divulged a couple of new tunes onto the myspace: Voyager & Take. Voyager is a classy slice of electro (another future classic!) to follow on from where The Smartest Bomb left off, and Take is mash up of acoustic guitar, phat beats and Lucy's never-less-than-beautiful vocals.

Depeche Mode
Further away on the horizon is our next appearance at The Glitz at the Depeche Mode night special in June. We are planning on a cover or two to mark the occasion. We're currently drawing up a shortlist for visitors to our website to vote on which Depeche Mode classics we should do… so if you want to put any forward for consideration, let us know!

Lots of other stuff behind the scenes, more tunes, gigs, videos, live footage from our last gig at the Glitz gig in the pipeline so we'll keep you posted as and when.

It's always good to hear from you guys, so let us know if you have any comments on the new tunes, the videos, etc!

New song: Voyager

Time to freshen up the myspace with a new song!

This is an extract of Voyager, a smooth slice of electro-disco. We hope you dig it.

Factoid fans will be interested to know that the 'distorted guitar' in the chorus is in fact a line of Lucy's vocals which we have used studio trickery on. One of those happy accidents.

Let us know what you think of it, and don't forget to lobby your local major label to sign us - we want to get our tunes even further out there!

Lineout Radio & Gig Fun

Thanks to all who came down on Thurs, a good time was had by all we think!

We enjoyed the set massively, and so did everyone else it seemed, so cheers if you were one of 'em!

We were pleased to be rebooked to play the Glitz after the set, so we expect to be appearing again in June for the Depeche Mode night special. I was at the last one and they're always a blast, so more details to follow when we have 'em.

We've also been featured in the Line-out radio show this month, which is nice, check it here:

A good week!

Great mention in the CMU Newsletter

Great mention in the CMU Newsletter!

Those kind people at the CMU Newsletter have seen fit to make us their 'Myspace of the Day' today! The newsletter is a daily round up of music industry news, gossip and opinion, and something we subscribed to even before this..now we're even more loyal!

Here's what they said:

MYSPACE OF THE DAY: CASSETTE
Now, a single landed on my desk yesterday, and on hearing it, and liking it, I wanted to review it. However, as it was released back in January, I can't really, as there's a limit to just how late we feel we can publish reviews. So, on the basis of that single, 'The Smartest Bomb', released via download by the lovely Shifty Disco's Singles Club, I've decided to nominate them for MySpace Of The Day instead. You can actually hear the single on the MySpace page, which is nice, plus three other slices of quality electronic style stuff. You know me, not good on genres. In the very nice letter that accompanied the single, they quote the Evening Standard as saying 'If you like Goldfrapp, you'll love Cassette'. I hate to say the Evening Standard are right about things, but I do think that if you like Goldfrapp you'll like this. But to be fair, I liked this better than I like Goldfrapp, and that's a very good reason for you to take a look at this page.

Cassette on BBC2

...well, we gather one of our tracks is to be used on some idents between xmas and the new year...the first is at 9pm BBC2 on Boxing Day, so we'll all have to watch it to find out which track they use (cos we're not sure which they've picked)

Update: it was The Smartest Bomb, how nice!

Have a Happy Seasonal Annual Winter Festival!

Oli & Lucy

p.s. and don't forget to come to our gig on the 10th Jan in Hoxton!

December Update

Oh man, we're bad at updating our blog!

Thanks everyone wot came to our gig last week - we had a blast! Nice to see us with the biggest audience of the night again, despite only playing 2nd of four bands!

We've got one more gig lined up in Jan, which we're preparing for, and then we're going to take a small break to really refine our live set. It's only when you play stuff out to actual people that you get a good sense of what works, and what you enjoy playing the most, so based on the last couple of gigs, we've got some great ideas for the future.

We will also be getting the fantastic guys behind bracebracebrace.com to accompany the set with their unique visuals, which we're really looking forward to working with them on.

Other than that, we're just concentrating on the writing of even more great tunetunes, and preparing for Xmas!

The location is: Clockwork, Islington, Thurs 30th November.
The time will be some time after 8pm, as is the way with these things.
Clockwork, 96 Pentonville Road, Angel, London, N1 9JB

Print out this very newsletter, which will entitle you to a £5 discounted entry.
We look forward to seeing you there!

REVIEW IN EVENING STANDARD!
We've only just discovered this, but our debut clearly caught someone at the Evening Standard's eye as it got reviewed in the Evening Standard a couple of days later. Shame we didn't notice it at the time to crow about it! Read the full and glowing report here: http://calbears.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4153/is_20060825/ai_n16699732
("If you LIKE Goldfrapp . you'll LOVE Cassette". Quite right!)

NEW SONG: THE SMARTEST BOMB
Well, new to MySpace - we've put up "The Smartest Bomb" for your enjoyment and we'll probably keep it there until the gig. We hope you dig it!

GIG
Did we mention the gig? You simply must come along, it's going to be smashing!

PHOTOSHOOT
Oli: We did a photoshoot the other day; the results of which are on myspace.com/cassettecassette - Lucy looking super-fab in a sexy blue dress and me, well, just looking kind of unshaven.
Lucy: *POSE AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT!*

Look out for the Moog, and the live shots from the Lark in the Park gig too.

YOU
We're always keen for feedback of any sort, on the songs, gigs, Myspace, and so forth, so please get in touch! We're especially happy to hear suggestions for collaborations, remixes, soundtracking cool vids, or even having someone make us a nice website. Look forward to hearing from ya.

So, that was the newsletter, we hope you liked it!

SHOUT TO CASSETTE LIVE BAND
'Props'/'Big Shout' and/or 'Ning' to our live band, without whom the Evening Standard review wouldn't have been possible:

Marion - backing vocals
Tris - bass guitar & bass synth-stylings
Neil - electric guitar
Pat - electric guitar

Back again!

Many sorries for the slight pause in blog updates from us - we got very busy leading up to the gig and then I went on holiday to Morocco after it so blogging took a back seat. Naughty Cassette.

Nevermind. We're back now and that's the main thing. As you can see we've finally got round to uploading some pics. Some are from that very first gig in August, with our full band (Backing Vox: Marion, Guitar: Pat, Bass: Tris), and some are from our very first professional band photo shoot with Fizz, who was awesome.

Let us know your thoughts on the pics, and stuff, and don't forget to subscribe to our even more infrequent newsletter!

First Gig Two days away...

...so, we've been practising quite a lot.

And it's going well, though first gigs are always nervewracking. However, to ease the nerves we've invited everyone we know. That'll work!!

We hope to see you there!

First gig

Gig Next Week

Yes - here it comes - Cassette's first outing into the world of gigs!

The time: Weds 23rd August
The more specific time: 8pm or thereabouts
The place: Lark in the Park, Islington
The realspace: 60, Copenhagen Street, N1 0JW
The nearest station: Angel Islington

We have been rehearsing jolly hard to give you - the mildly curious audience, a splendid musical experience.

We have people playing instruments like the guitar, the bass guitar and the synthesizer!
We have Lucy & Marion providing the beautiful singing!

It might well be quite good. And you'll be able to say you were there at our very first ever gig. Hooplah!

Please find a flyer in the pictures section which will a) allow you in for a fiver, and b) er, that's it.

We're sorry the flyer is so yellow; the promoter made it and we haven't had time to do a better one -
what with all the rehearsing of the brilliant music and such.

We very much look forward to seeing you there though, despite the yellowness of the flyer.

Oli & Lucy
